Environmental Integrity, as part of its electronic recycling and end of life management services for e-waste, offers a great deal of asset management and re-marketing to our customers.  Asset Management and re-marketing just means that when we’re given electronic devices to recycle, we first try to reuse them if they are still in working condition and then try to sell the components that are still useful.

For those customers who are concerned about the data on their old electronic devices can rest assured that all data is thoroughly destroyed.  Any working and relatively up-to-date electronic device can be thoroughly wiped, using DOD 3 or 7 levels of hard drive reformatting.  The Department of Defense has set levels of hard drive wiping appropriate for classified information, and we follow that protocol.  Only after the device is cleaned and wiped of any information is it resold to others in need of working devices, such as schools or charities.  Remarketable equipment, those electronic recyclables that are still in working condition, are thoroughly examined, cleaned, and subject to total data destruction.

Some of the items that are commonly remarketable include computers, fans, cables, drives, networking equipment, USB backup systms, LCDs, and cell phones.  Additionally, for many of these items, if they aren’t in usable condition as a whole often have working components that can be sold as parts.
